Sales Manager

About the Position

Our distribution company's leadership team needs a motivated, results-driven Sales Manager to lead our domestic sales department. The successful candidate will understand what motivates customers to buy and know how to tap into those needs through a value proposition-based way. The Sales Manager will be responsible for developing and leading a team of Sales Associates. Responsibilities

  • Assess the strengths and weaknesses of the sales team and manage the sales program accordingly
  • Monitors the program on all accounts across all domestic sales channels and pinpoint ways to penetrate new markets
  • Monitors customer preferences to determine focus of sales efforts. Reviews operational sales records to project sales and determine profitability
  • Determines price schedules and discount rates
  • Meet with customers to discuss their evolving needs and to assess the quality of our company's relationship with them
  • Develop and implement new sales initiatives, strategies and programs to capture key demographics
  • Provide on-the-ground support for sales associates as they generate leads and close new deals
  • Plans and directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control sales and service programs
  • Provide daily report of field sales success and communicate VOC data to superiors
  • Advises customers on technical aspects of products and value-added propositions
  • Directs clerical staff to keep records of export correspondence, bid requests, and credit collections, and to maintain current information on tariffs, licenses, and restrictions
  • Responsible for building and maintaining a sales pipeline by initiating sales calls, and conducting face to face meetings, managing the sales process from introduction to delivery
  • Identify prospect account decision makers to sell products; perform due diligence on prospects to gain an understanding of overall business opportunities, lines of business and competitive positioning
  • Demonstrate follow-through with all aspects of the sales process
  • Travel -- approximately 10% over night - on a regular basis to meet new / existing clients as needed
  • Manage client orders; execute them at the highest service standards and to the full satisfaction of the client
  • Build, foster and manage relationships with existing clients

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications or related field
  • 10+ years' B2B sales experience
  • 4+ years in leadership sales position
  • Engineering and/or machining/metal cutting experience a big plus.
  • Track record of superior performance metrics
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Strong decision-making abilities
  • Able to travel up to two weeks per month
  • Familiarity with CRM software

Required Licenses or Experience

  • 3-5 years’ experience
